Arizona Picture Jasper is not a real jasper, but rather a rhyolite. It is marketed for its Landscape pictures and its wild lightening or Indian Painting patterns. The majority of this material is heavily silicated as well as fine-grained, but the grains are not as fine as jasper. The source of this material is mined in the Globe Arizona area.

A picture jasper semi-precious cabochon, cut and polished from Arizona Picture Jasper. The stone exhibits camel-brown, ocher, brown on a mocha colored background. The stone is cut in an Oval with both a lower and upper girdle to facilitate stone setting. The stone measures 1.51 x 1.15 x 0.25 inches. The specimen is polished to a matte finish.

The cabochon is ideal for a pendant, cuff, bracelet, broach and/or statement piece setting.
