Cherry Creek Jasper, a very colorful stone with a wide variety of colors and patterns is mine from the Cherry Creek mine in China. The creek named Cherry Creek actually runs through the area near the mine and the area where this rock was discovered. Again, like some of the other lapidary stones, this one is not a true jasper as it is primarily composed of dolomite instead of Chalcedony. It is believed the stone was formed in an ancient ocean from the different layers of sediments.
This stone has been stabilized in order to shape and polish. The stone is polished to a high luster both front and back. The back is flat ready for mounting.
