Chrysoprase is a gemstone variety of chalcedony if translucent. The apple-green color is due to the small amount of nickel within the chalcedony.
The source material for this stone originates in Madagascar. This particular piece has a band of minute crystals and some speckles of other minerals that affect the stone’s translucency. There are several open miniature vugs within the band of minute crystals. At the top right, the stone has a small patch of white quartz.
The stone is polished to a high luster both front and back. The front has many small polished vugs. The back is flat ready for mounting.
