This light green jasper is known by various names; Gary Green Jasper, Larsonite, Green Petrified Bog-wood and Freedom Jasper. This soon to be rare material was once easily mined on the Oregon/Nevada border near the town of McDermitt. The area is currently under evaluation to be converted into a Lithium mine. Once that happens, access to this material will completely disappear.
The Gary Green or Larsonite Cabochon is hand cut and polished semi-precious cabochon made from the rare Larsonite or Gary Green lapidary stone. The stone is a one-of-a-kind larger oval with a predominately teal-blue-green surrounded by yellow-olive green. The stone is cut with both a lower and upper girdle to facilitate stone setting. The specimen is polished to a high vitreous luster.
The cabochon is ideal for a pendant, broach and/or statement piece setting.
