This light green jasper is known by various names; Gary Green Jasper, Larsonite, Green Petrified Bogwood and Freedom Jasper. This soon to be rare material was once easily mined on the Oregon/Nevada border near the town of McDermitt. The area is currently under evaluation to be converted into a Lithium mine. Once that happens, access to this material will completely disappear.
This stone has various colors of greens and tan colors transitioning to teal blue and some other variations of greenish blue.
The stone’s provenance: Mined by the Kemp family, McDermitt, OR.
The stone is polished to a high vitreous luster both front and back. The back is flat ready for mounting.
