This light green jasper is known by various names; Gary Green Jasper, Freedom Jasper, Larsonite, Green Petrified Bog-wood. This soon to be rare material was once easily mined on the Oregon/Nevada border near the town of McDermitt. The area is currently under evaluation to be converted into a Lithium mine. Once that happens, access to this material will completely disappear.
The Gary Green or Larsonite Cabochon is hand cut and polished semi-precious cabochon made from the rare Larsonite or Gary Green lapidary stone. The stone is a one-of-a-kind longer pear or tear drop with a yellowish-brown transition from top down to a dark brown. The stone is cut with both a lower and upper girdle to facilitate stone setting. The stone measures 1.65 x 0.65 x 0.30 inches. The specimen is polished to a high vitreous luster.
The cabochon is ideal as a pendant, broach and/or component in a statement piece setting.
