This light green jasper is known by various names; Gary Green Jasper, Freedom Jasper, Larsonite, Green Petrified Bogwood. This soon to be rare material was once easily mined on the Oregon/Nevada border near the town of McDermitt. The area is currently under evaluation to be converted into a Lithium mine. Once that happens, access to this material will completely disappear.
This stone has various colors of tans, browns with some edges of teal blue. Some creamy tans swirled with darker yellow tinted tans are also swirled within the face of the stone.
The stone’s provenance: Mined by the Kemp family, McDermitt, OR.
The stone is polished to a high vitreous luster both front and back. The back is flat ready for mounting.
