Lapis Lazuli is a deep royal blue metamorphic rock that is mined in northeast Afghanistan. This stone has become scarcer on the open market in the last three years. The three major minerals that make up Lapis Lazuli are lazurite, calcite and pyrite. The stone also contains lesser amounts of feldspar, mica or diopside.

This face of this stone has a 50:50 of calcite and lazurite. The calcite has the appearance of being plumed within the lazurite.

The stone is polished to a high luster both front and back. The back is flat ready for mounting.
