Pinolite or Pinolith is a black and white with periodically a pale orange coloring. The stone is composed of dolomite, magnesite, which is heavily included with graphite. Sometimes the crystals within the pinolith are shaped like pine nuts, hence the name. This material was sourced from a mine in Canada.

This specimen shows some semblance of chatoyance across small sections of the magnesite as well as minute areas of the graphite.

The stone is polished to a high luster both front and back. The back is flat ready for mounting.
