Canadian Pinolite or Pinolith is a black and white with periodically a pale orange coloring. The stone is composed of dolomite matrix with inclusions of magnesite, which is heavily included with graphite. Sometimes the crystals within the pinolith are shaped like pine nuts, hence the name. This material was sourced from a mine in Canada.
This specimen displays the many shades of graphite across the face of the stone. It also displays the typical pine seed shapes of the magnesite outlined in graphite.
The stone measures 1.37 x 0.73 x 0.18 inches. This stone has been stabilized prior to cutting. This cabochon is polished to a high glassy luster.
The cabochon is ideal as a pendant and/or statement piece.
