Rain-forest jasper or Rain-forest Rhyolite is a volcanic rock composed primarily of quartz and other minerals to give it its color. The name Rain-forest jasper was derived from the impressionistic patterns resembling the foliage within a rain-forest. Rain-forest Rhyolite was mined exclusively in Queensland, Australia.

The face of this specimen has two irregular shaped orbs surrounded by green bands. The remainder of the stone has various shades of greens and pale yellows.

The stone is cut in squat Tear Drop with both an upper and lower girdle to facilitate setting the stone. The cabochon is polished to a high vitreous luster.

The cabochon is ideal for a pendant , ring and/or statement piece.

Photographed under full spectrum LEDs.
