Rain-forest Rhyolite is a volcanic rock composed primarily of quartz and other minerals to give it its color. The name Rain-forest was derived from the impressionistic patterns resembling tree rounds, mushrooms and other foliage within a forest. The stone was mined exclusively in Queensland, Australia.
The face of this specimen has a variety of different shaped mustard colored orbs on a variegated green background.
The stone is cut in a smaller skewed Navette with both an upper and lower girdle to facilitate setting the stone. The cabochon is polished to a high vitreous luster.
The cabochon is ideal for a pendant , ring and/or smaller statement piece.
